A quiet start to the year, more
quieter by the heavy snowfalls which caused two rehearsals to be
cancelled. We are now working hard on the test-piece for the Area
Championships at Blackpool in March.
March
March started with intense rehearsals
for the fast approaching Area Championships in Blackpool.
On the 6th, the Band was invited to
perform the 4th Section test-piece Saint Saens Variations at the North
West Area Test-piece Showcase in Warrington. This was an opportunity to
play the Area test-piece and receive constructive remarks from adjudicator
Richard Evans. The Band performed well on the night and received excellent
comments from Richard.
On the 14th the Band headed off to
Blackpool for the Area Championships. Following our performance, many of
the Band felt we hadn't performed the test-piece quite as well as the
previous weekend and this reflected in 9th place out of 23 bands.
March saw the sad departure of our
Musical Director David Houghton and Principle Cornet Nicola Gates due to
work commitments, the Band would like to thank both David and Nicola for
all their hard work and wish them well for the future
