Merry Christmas From Golborne Brass Band

After a very busy musical calender throughout December, Golborne Brass Band are taking a well deserved break over the Christmas period. We would like to wish all the audience members, patrons and supporters of the band a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Successful New Year.

Patron Subscription and Update

Just a reminder to all our patrons, it is not too late to update your 2012 subscription of £15. Either contact the website manager at golbornebrassband@gmail.com or speak to a band member at any of our concerts on upgrading your membership. Being a patron of the band enables you to support the Senior and Training band, you can gain free access to three special patrons concerts a year, and receive quarterly newsletters on the bands progress. This year, the three themed concerts the band will be performing especially for patrons will include a
Entertainment/ Film Music Concert in March
Big Band Concert in July
Festive Christmas Concert in Decemeber
To be a patron of Golborne Brass Band is very simple. Either contact the band via their email address or speak to a band member on becoming a patron, and you could be joining us throughout the year!

Musical Director Departs

(November 2011)

It is with great sadness that the band announces the departure of our Musical Director, Jason  M Smith.  After a succesful period with the band which includes attending the National Finals this year, Jason has decided to move on for personal reasons.  It is made clear that we intend to stay in touch and Jason comments:

"I have had a fantastic journey with Golborne and shall miss everyone greatly.  I intend to stay in touch and be on hand should the band require my assistance at any time.  My first job is to make myself a patron of the bands association of which I instigated 12 months ago,  at the first instance.  I leave with many happy memories and wish the band the greatest of success for the future"

On The Way To The Nationals!

The Band has shown great improvement over the last year.  On the 27th February this year, and up against stiff competition (20 other bands!), we qualifield for the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in the 4th Section!  To say we were proud is an understatement. 

 It is only the 2nd time in our History that we have achieved such a feat.  To top that off we also gained third prize in the Tameside Brass Band Open!  The two prizes are the first two prizes we have won in the last ten years.  We are hoping there are many more to come.  Watch This Space!

The first of many Patrons Concerts!

The 21st May saw the start of our Patrons Concerts.  A huge Succcess with performances from the Senior and Training bands.  There was phenomenal support and we added much needed funds to our kitty!  A great big thankyou to all who worked hard and attended.  Well done to all the kids who participated and special thanks to the Committee for all their hard work and to Vicky for a great concert by the Training Band!
